A BIG SEASON AWAITS….
07. April 2015 Back to overview »

Fabian Schiller is going to start at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2015 – after a long and eventful winter, almost completely filled with thoughts and dates concerning the realization and planning of the racing season 2015, it has now been certain for a couple of weeks that Fabian Schiller is going to dare the courageous step into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Now that the first pre-season tests have been done, the season is going to start mid-April in British Silverstone and is going to take the drivers all across Europe until the season finale at the end of October in Hockenheim.

After two preparatory seasons in the Formula ADAC, which Fabian completed in the family-owned team Schiller Motorsport, it’s not an easy task for any driver to gather all the necessary ingredients for a solid start into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. After all it is presumably the biggest and most strongly fought for junior racing series in the world. It is seen as THE steppingstone for up-and-coming drivers on their way to professional motorsports. Fifteen of the current 20 F1 drivers as well as 18 of the current 24 DTM drivers have gone through the Formula 3 school, as well as many of the current LMP1 drivers of the FIA long distance World Championship WEC, who are going to fight for the victory at the season highlight, the 24h race in Le Mans. The latter is also the long term goal for Fabian Schiller, who wants to get closer to this with his participation in the Formula 3.

The competition among the drivers is immensely high and the participating teams are the best the current Formula racing sport has to offer. Due to the sophisticated racing vehicles as well as the high mileage of about 10000km per year, that have to be covered during the 11 racing weekends and 33 races of the European Championship, the necessary season budgets are quite high.

Additionally it was important to find the right team. In the end not only the financial conditions are crucial – equally important is the driver’s and team’s agreement regarding aims, attitudes and mentality, to be able to successfully work together. The British team West Tec fulfilled all of these conditions and the first shared tests have made all involved parties very content and confident.

“I’m really more than relieved that all the basic conditions are now in place and I’m really happy to be able to tackle the new challenges now. It’s brilliant to be able to tackle a racing season like this with the support of professional and experienced people. I’m sure that this year is going to bring me forward in my development as driver and as a person as well as bring me closer to my goal to become a professional driver. I already want to thank all of my supporters and wish us all a successful year.”
