29. April 2015 Back to overview »

In a few days Fabian Schiller, sponsored driver of the German Post Speed Academy, is going to start at his second Formula 3 racing weekend of the 2015 season. In the context of the DTM season kick-off in Hockenheim he is going to start at the first of three “home races” (2x Hockenheim, 1x Nurburgring) and is therefore looking forward to this event with high expectations.

With the experience from Silverstone, knowing that regarding speed he was able to place among the top ten of this strongly manned Championship, Fabian Schiller is going to travel to Hockenheim this weekend (April 30th – May 3rd) with a strengthened self-confidence. He is looking forward to his first Formula 3 race in Germany as well as a lot of friends and partners who now have the chance very early on in the season to visit and support Fabian live on location.

“The Hockenheim track is not far from my place of residence Troisdorf and I know it well. I’ve already started there twice at the ADAC Formula Masters and really like the layout. Even though it’s going to be a new experience for me to drive on this track with such a downforce-strong vehicle as my Formula 3 cart, my past experience is surely going to help me to quickly find my rhythm.”

Racing format & timetable

While usually all the racing weekends of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship follow a standardized timetable throughout the entire season, the upcoming event in Hockenheim is the only exception to this. Different from the usual setup, the event is going to take place over four instead of three days, to be able to include the FIA Rallye Cross World Championship as an additional incentive for viewers on location

At the Formula 3, the two consecutive free trainings of 40 minutes each are going to take place on Thursday as well as qualifying 1. On Friday, qualifying 2 is then going to follow as well as the first of three races. The qualifyings have a duration of 20 minutes again – the result of the first qualifying is going to determine the starting positions for the first race while during the second qualifying the fastest as well as the second-fastest times of each driver are going to be considered in order to determine the starting positions for races two and three

The second race is going to take place on Saturday. After that the drivers have to attend team meetings with their engineers as well as press appointments and autograph sessions. Race number three is going to finish off the weekend on Sunday. The racing distance of each race is about 100km and lasts a maximum of 35 minutes. Championship points are going to be administered the same way as in the Formula 1:

P1 = 25, P2 = 18, P3 = 15, P3 = 12, P4 = 10, P5 = 8, P6 = 6, P7 = 4, P8 = 2, P10 = 1.

TV-times Germany:

The young German driver Fabian Schiller (17) from the Cologne/Troisdorf area is driving his first season at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2015. This is said to be THE stepping stone for ambitious drivers into professional racing. Max Verstappen and Tom Blomqvist proved this by achieving the direct rise from Formula 3 to Formula 1 and the DTM over the past winter. Even though Fabian Schiller is obviously trying to follow in their footsteps, he is pursuing a different dream– with his participation in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship he is following his long-term goal, an LMP1 cockpit at the long distance World Championship (WEC)as well as the connected start at the 24h race in Le Mans. In addition to the drivers training, Fabian is a member of the German Post Speed Academy and proud to be supported by this renowned program for the second year in a row.
