This weekend the time has come – Fabian Schiller is going to start at the first of eleven racing weekends of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship 2015 in Silverstone.

This Friday to Sunday (April 10th – 12th) Fabian Schiller is going to start at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for the first time. Not only the racing vehicle is going to be new to him but also the race track.

“Due to the fact that this is the first international racing series I’ve participated in, I’ve never driven a race in England before. Of course I’m really excited to drive on such a special and popular race track during my premiere weekend of this Championship. Additionally the basic event, the FIA long-distance Championship WEC is of special interest to me, because it’s my dream to start in Le Mans in one of those LMP1 vehicles one day. I have practiced in the simulator and had a couple of meetings with my team which is why I’m well prepared and can hardly wait to travel to England for this race.

On the eve of the main event all drivers have the opportunity to get used to the regional conditions during an official test day of the Championship on Tuesday. The race track is available for a whole day, which is going to prove very useful especially for new drivers such as Fabian to be able to get used to the track and work out a setup for the weekend.

Race format & timetable

Every racing weekend begins on Friday morning with two consecutive free trainings, each lasting 40 minutes. On Friday afternoon the two 20-minutes rounds of qualifying of the weekend are going to follow. The result of the first qualifying is going to set the starting positions for the first race while after the second qualifying, the fastest as well as second-fastest times of the drivers are going to be assessed in order to set the starting positions for the second and third races.

On Saturday the first two of the three races are going to take place. There is going to be one race in the morning and one in the afternoon. In the meantime the drivers can attend team meetings with their engineers as well as media events and autograph sessions. The final race of the weekend is then going to take place on late Sunday morning. The racing distance of each race is about 100km and lasts a maximum of 35 minutes. Championship points are going to be administered the same way as in the Formula 1:

P1 = 25, P2 = 18, P3 = 15, P3 = 12, P4 = 10, P5 = 8, P6 = 6, P7 = 4, P8 = 2, P10 = 1.
